COASTAL CLEANUP STATION

We are thrilled to be the first location in San Francisco to host a permanent Coastal Cleanup Station, joining an existing set of Beach Cleanup Stations around the Bay Area.

Inspired by and in collaboration with All One Ocean, our Coastal Cleanup Station is a practical way to help keep Heron’s Head Park clean, and a way to inspire further education and action for a clean Bay and ocean. We created it so anyone can easily pick up litter–especially plastic pollution–from the shoreline and park using one of the bags inside. Keeping our trash out of the water also means that we keep it from being eaten by and harming millions of seabirds, turtles, seals, sea lions, dolphins, and other animals. When we pick up litter and prevent animals such as fish from eating it, we are ultimately helping to prevent litter from becoming an ingredient in our own food.

Be sure to stop by the Coastal Cleanup Station the next time you visit us! Meanwhile, take a look at these great resources about community cleanups and preventing marine debris.
